- PHOTOS STILL TO COME... STAY TUNED -
Ok Riki you better enjoy this because at your request here is a food blog of our trip! i have gone back and looked through all the photos we have taken so all the food photos are now in one place. i have also started an amenities blog but don't have many photos in that one yet. hopefully you all enjoy getting a look at what food looks like in different parts of the world.
PLANE FOOD
This was one my meals on the plane from Melbourne to Singapore. Eggs, hash browns and tomato. it actually tasted a lot better than it looks.
VIETNAM
Here is Ewen eating his very first meal in Vietnam, the delicious looking pineapple juice is mine. I cant remember exactly but it looks like Ewen is eating some form of spring rolls and maybe chicken... sorry this photo was taken two months ago so i cant really remember what is what.
Me eating a nut bar all the way from Australia. this was our very last bit of food we had bought over from Aussie to Vietnam.
Me drinking a watermelon juice in Vietnam.
The cake that a child gave us on the ferry boat from Halong Bay to Cat Ba Island. It actually tasted pretty good.
Garlic Bread and Chips at the Kangaroo Bar in Vietnam. It was a nice change to have some food we are used to in Australia. however once was enough, wouldn't want to eat stuff like that all the time in Vietnam with so many other delicious things on offer.
Delicious noodles and some vine leaf parcels. it was meat wrapped in vine leaves and was very tasty. on the menu it was called 'lizard tails' but we are skeptical that the meat actually came from a lizard.
Ewen's chocolate cake in Hoi An, Vietnam.
Delicious strawberry tart in Hoi An, Vietnam.
Deep fried crickets in Dalat, Vietnam.
Some of the fruit we got to try on our tour in Dalat.
Ewen eating a furry fruit in Dalat, i didn't like this one, on the inside the texture was what i imagine an eye ball to feel like.
Cocktails and beer in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
Our lunch on the Mekong Delta. The waitress cut bits off the fish and constructed spring rolls at our table out of the fish, lettuce, noodles and pastry. it was really tasty and very fresh.
Ewen and our guide having coconut juice on a boat along the Mekong Delta. I had a taste of Ewen's it was ok, kind of like water with the faintest taste of coconut in it.
CAMBODIA
Ewen cooking up our dinner at the table in the restaurant.
All the supplies you need to make a delicious dinner in Cambodia.
EGYPT
Incredibly this is the only photo we took of food in Egypt, this is the bread sticks on our table at our first dinner in Cairo.
TURKEY
Our very first taste of Turkish water.
Ewen's lunch on the day we went on a cruise along the Bospherus
My lunch on our Bospherus cruise day, it is Calamari in case you cant tell.
Eating fresh watermelon out the front of the Blue Mosque.
Bread and Dips after our day at Topkapi Palace, Istanbul.
Ewen's lamb and vegetables in Goreme, Cappadocia.
Eating a mini apple (or possible a green sour plum it was hard to tell)
Ewen's first and only Turkish coffee. He had one at about 8pm and was still awake at 5am the following morning. he couldn't believe it when i woke up and told him it was daylight and what the hell was he doing still awake!!!
Our first and only taste of Raki. Its a licorice tasting spirit that it clear, you add water to it which gives it this cloudy look. it was the most disgusting thing i have ever tasted.
Apple Tea, soooo good! i got a box and posted it home so hopefully it makes it there ok because i definitely want some more of that when i get home! it made me feel so grown up drinking a hot drink from a tea cup :-)
ITALY
Our first taste of pizza in Italy, it was cold and from a restaurant in the Vatican museum. not the greatest start to our Italian pizza experience. Although it tasted ok apart from the cold factor.
Our first taste of Gelato in Rome. Strawberry for Ewen and Lemon for me.
Fonzies, doesn't Ewen look excited here, he was a bit disappointed with the taste though... and the smell.
Fonzies, we took this photo for you Darc
Ewen's pizza at the restaurant at our hostel in Rome. He said it tasted good the layout was just a little odd.
Lasagna at the hostel restaurant in Rome.
Ewen with a cafe menu, we actually left without ordering anything as it was a bit expensive here for our budget but this photo shows you what an Italian menu looks like.
Ewen's lunch... it is a sandwich with ham, lettuce and cheese. apart from the bread looking kind of like a cartoon hamburger bun not all that interesting.
My lunch of pear juice and an apple croissant... well i was told it was a croissant, it looks the wrong shape to me though
Ewens strawberry gelato, i had cherry and it had real whole cherries in it! gelato is my new favourite food!!!
Me with a strawberry gelato... yep we had two cones of gelato each this day, only about an hour apart too... we were celebrating our last day in Rome and the fact that the day before we had walked about 20km so that makes it ok.
