Nice is nice

We had the choice of 5 nights in Nice or 5 nights in Barcelona; this was due to us not been able to find accommodation in Avignon (the stop in between Nice & Barcelona) so we had extra time on our hands. I wasn’t too keen on spending extra time in either Nice or Barcelona because I’d heard several stories of people having things thieved away in these places. As it turns out I loved Nice and would have happily spent 10 nights wandering the streets and chilling out on the beach. We spent our first day exploring the old town, looking in some shops and then walking up a hill to see some cascade waterfalls and have a look at the view over Nice (pronounced Niece by the way) there was supposed to be a castle or ruins of a castle up there but somehow we managed to miss that. Later that night tragedy struck us in the form of our laptop deciding to go on strike. We got the blue screen of death and so this meant that a large portion of our second day in Nice was spent searching the town for computer shops that would fix our beloved laptop. We had started looking into prices for new ones when we chanced upon a helpful fellow working in Virgin who directed us to a repair shop he thought would be able to help us. Luckily they could!! They needed to keep our computer for 48 hours and they had to delete everything except our photos which was a bit annoying because we had built up quite a collection of movies and TV shows to keep us entertained. By the time we got back to the hostel it was around 2pm I think. We both ended up having a siesta (we had spent at least 4 solid hours walking the streets of Nice) and then later in the afternoon went to the movies where Ewen finally got see Get Him to the Greek. A Russell Brand movie he had wanted to see for the past 4 months but every country we went to wasn’t playing the movie yet.

My new fav shop, its called Pylones and sells awesome homewares
The weird jelly bean men on poles in a square in Nice
A street
Ewen and a crazy horse fountain
Another street
The greatest gelati store in the world, 96 flavours!

This one was more weird than wonderful...
Yum rose and white chocolate gelati

The crowded beaches
This is how real backpackers eat their dinner, out of plastic disposable cups
