We left Olympus Sunday morning with a mini bus load of other travelers. we stopped off in Demre to have some lunch and buy some snacks for the boat. then it was off to the boat. me and Ewen had a room to ourselves with an ensuite which was not the nicest bathroom i have ever come across! but been on a sail boat certainly made up for this.
we sailed for a little while and then stopped just past a cave for a swim, we weren't allowed into the cave but instead did some swimming and snorkeling, we didn't see too many fish at this stop but the water was so nice and clear!
after this the boat sailed past a sunken city but as it is protected you can only look, you are not allowed off the boat to explore.
we stopped in Simena which is a fishing village with no car access.we walked up to a castle which was a bit of a hike and were annoyed too find out that we had only brought enough money with us for one of us to go all the way to the top. i ended up going up because Ewen said he had climbed to the top of the Acropolis in Olympus and i hadn't. the views were incredible! and the castle itself was practically deserted with only myself and one other couple up there.
one part of the wall that has completly fallen away, this dropped straight down a cliff to the ocean
the other side of the castle where part of the wall had fallen away, this lead down a gentle grassy slope.. not sure why this part of the wall had been repaired but the dangerous part was left wide open
when i walked back down and met up with Ewen he showed me what he had found while I'd been exploring the castle, a whole field of sarcophagi (like tombs). as we were walking down there a man followed us talking in Turkish and trying to get us to take a large bag from him. he showed us what i thought was drugs but Ewen later told me was tea but we just shook our heads, he kept following us at a distance occasionally yelling things out. strange man!we went back to the boat to get more money for icy poles and did a little bit of shopping, i got a toy felt bird that is handmade and so cute! it comes with a little egg in it and i also got a child's Turkish hat. figured it would be good for a multicultural dress up at work when i get back :-)
once everyone was back on the boat we sailed to a bay i suppose you could call it where we stayed for the night.

Just another day for the princess.
Good idea not taking the bag of tea. It must be Ewens long hair making you two look like druggies.Looking forward to the next day.
what are you doing up so early go back to bed!!
Wow your captain has one of Dads jumpers on!! Mum stays up all night waiting for you to do a blog update...so it would be better for all of us if you did them daily, she can get quite cranky when you don't update for a few days...haha.
