Avignon

We were supposed to stop in Avignon for two nights but had a lot of trouble finding accommodation so in the end we decided to skip it. We probably should have tried harder! Our busabout bus stopped there on the way to Barcelona to pick up new passengers and drop off the ones lucky enough to be staying there. The town was surrounded by walls with a river running along the walls. There was a huge bridge that only made it to half way across the river for some reason. It looked like the perfect place to spend two days. Also our guide told us it had the oldest op shop in Europe! Most people would probably find that boring but I think that would have been very cool to see. Also in Avignon is the largest gothic palace in the world, it was built in the 14th century for the popes to chill out in while they avoided the political unrest in Rome with a nice holiday in Avignon. Anyway not really sure why I’m telling you all this because we didn’t really get to see anything, I suppose I’m saying that if you get the chance go to Avignon for longer than we did (half an hour to eat a sandwich on the grass by the river which was pretty cool don’t get me wrong). Oh also in Avignon we ran into Amelia, my friend Laurens friend.
Sitting by the river
yummy baguettes for lunch
the bridge
part of the town, also a giant gold pope statue

Good idea to leave some places for the next time you two go overseas. And as your mother I do understand that you my Pieta would find the oldest op shop so cool.
