Still loving London

We met up with Andrew in Trafalgar Square and he took us to a little museum that used to be an architects house and had been kept looking pretty much the same as it did when the architect lived there. i cant remember his name exactly but it was something like Sir John Sloan. After having a quick look around that house we walked to the British Museum where we had a look around a few of the rooms, Andrew showed us his favourite displays and quizzed Ewen on a lot of historical facts while i hid behind Ewen so i wouldn't
have to answer any questions (not that i knew any of the answers).

The next day we went to the Bank of England (where Mr.Banks from Mary Poppins worked) museum where we got to control inflation with a pretend hot air balloon, touch a solid gold bar and look at lots of displays. the most interesting display was seeing how paper money has changed over the years. only 40 or 50 years ago paper money was about 2 or 3 times as large as it is now. After leaving the museum we walked to the gherkin which is just a business building but it resembles a gherkin. its real name is something boring like St Mary Axe (the same as the street it is built on).
Next up was a tube ride to the other side of London where we jumped on the London Eye (after a lot of waiting in line and watching a 4D movie on the greatness of the 'Eye'. There were about 10 people in our pod which was good because any more and you would have to fight for enough window space. interestingly they don't stop the wheel to let people off and on, you have to step off while it continues to move. they get one group off, the bomb detector guys jump in and do their thing (we weren't sure if this made us feel more or less safe) and then the next group jumps in. We were lucky in a couple of ways, firstly we got in around 5.30pm so the sun was setting (behind the clouds) making lots of interesting lights shine down on parts of London and we were also lucky because the wheel stopped for about 10 minutes while our pod was right at the top. so we got a bit of extra time up there to check out the views which were incredible. I'm not sure how tall the
London Eye is compared to the Eiffel tower but i didn't feel nearly as high up as i did up the top of the Eiffel tower. Maybe its because your in a completely enclosed pod i don't know. I almost forgot the best part about the whole London Eye experience, before they take you in to watch the 4D movie on how awesome the London Eye is they take a souvenir photo of you and then superimpose it on a background. Because Ewen had on a green jumper he appeared to have no torso in our photo, i am standing next to a head, arms and legs with the background of London where Ewen's stomach should be. We ended up buying the photo just because it is so hilarious. Its probably the tackiest souvenir we have brought yet (if you don't count all of
the super tacky magnets i have brought).

London Eye sounds fantastic great views lucky Dr Who impersonator wasn't on board.Hope Andrew isn't being 'pompous' he can come across like that at times just have to joke him out of it. Can't wait to see the torso-less Ewen sounds hilarious. Have fun on your car trip - get off the motorways & hit the secondary roads see much more. Lots love xx
